Profile

Shaun Lovering is founder and proprietor of Lovering Interiors. Brought up in the beautiful and historic countryside of the Wye Valley this instilled a passion for nature, including its colours, textures and surfaces, which he now uses as inspiration in his everyday life and work.

Training

Shaun's entry into the field of fine decoration came after taking up an apprenticeship with a heritage decorating company where he trained as a traditional decorator.

At the end of his training he was awarded a national prize from The Worshipful Company of Painters and Stainers for the high level of his work.

Shaun then went on to specialise in fine decoration as well as gaining valuable experience in furniture decoration and heritage restoration. To further his knowledge he went on to study fine art in both Sydney, Australia and the UK.

Shaun lived in Sydney for 9 years which gave him a great opportunity not only to understand Australia and its amazing natural light and beautiful colours but also to work throughout southeast Asia, where he gained great exposure to its decorative styles and spiritual lifestyle.

More recently Shaun studied interior design at the KLC school in Chelsea.

His wide experience and training has lead to him becoming an Associate Member of the BIDA.

Experience

Shaun has worked in the field of interiors for almost 20 years, practicing his art throughout the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia working in both traditional and contemporary decoration. Back home Shaun has worked for many great interior experts such as Robert kime and Anne Millais. Overseas he has worked on everything from the Sydney harbour foreshore, to luxury yachts and Asian fishing palaces.

His vast experience gives him a great ability to understand the needs of each project and the wishes of his clients. This is expertly communicated through his choice of colour and finish.

Shaun draws on a wide variety of influences both traditional and spiritual.

Traditional ones include the field of architecture, particularly that of the 18th Century and many of the great painters down through the ages. He also is an avid follower of current styles and trends.
